Made from durable materials like porcelain, porcelain fused to gold alloy, or gold alloy, dental bridges are anchored to existing teeth and are a great way to replace missing teeth.
The process begins by creating abutments out of your anchor teeth. These teeth are recontoured to provide a base for the bridge. After the abutments are formed, we either take an impression or iTero scan of the area and send it to the dental lab, which will then create a comfortable, natural-looking bridge. This bridge consists of two or more crowns on either end to place on the abutment teeth, plus one or more pontics—the new tooth that replaces your missing tooth.
While your bridge is being crafted, Riverfront Dental Care will fit you with a temporary bridge to protect the abutments and fill the gap. Once the permanent bridge is ready, we’ll put it in place and secure it with adhesive. It will soon feel like your natural teeth.
If you have missing teeth, you should strongly consider getting them replaced. Aside from the aesthetic reasons, missing teeth can cause structural damage to your mouth and jaw and make it difficult to eat or speak properly.
